About the Council

A district-wide platform designed to strengthen student leadership, representation, collaboration and community engagement across the Port of Spain & Environs Education District.

Our story

From proposal to district collaboration.

On 16 March 2026, a proposal for a District-Wide Student Leadership Collaboration & Community Engagement Initiative was submitted for consideration. The proposal called for a structured District Student Council and leadership engagement programme bringing together student leaders from secondary schools across the district.

The initiative was designed to create a forum for students to share experiences, discuss common issues, develop leadership skills and collaborate with school administrators, district officials and community stakeholders.

Its operating concept is student-led, with guidance and oversight through the Ministry of Education’s district administration and the Office of the School Supervisor III.

Institutional relationship: Council proposals, public engagements and matters requiring authorisation are routed through appropriate school, district and Ministry channels.
